Weaknesses of Genetic Algorithms with Precedence Preservative Crossover and Mutation in Disassembly Sequence Optimization

practical use in disassembly sequence optimization. It tries to find out if a genetic algorithm is a viable means in disassembly sequence optimization and particularly to identify what its weaknesses and limits are. In the first part of the article the well-known genetic GA methodology is described. The second part identifiesthe practical problems and limitsof the methodology in experiments withmobile phone disassembly optimization. The paper identifies the need for the simplification of product structure diagrams in some cases as well as the need to set the rules for the selection of genes for mutation. Furthermore, based on the experiments, itfavours the idea of regular incorporation of a
mutation operator in GA, i.e. mutation in every generation. From the experiments,it also seems that GA operators in the methodology function in the way that they prevent higher uniformity of individuals in a few subsequent generations, andthat it is not significantly better on average to leave the algorithm run longer (e.g. until the 40th generation) in comparison to the original “stop” conditions of the methodology.

3D Technology in Production of Sealed Containers for Chemical Industry Devices

Chemical industry today needs new high-tech and cheap sealed containers for devices. The material on the usage of 3D technology in production of device's drum is presented in this article. Samples of device's containers for chemical industry were fabricated by means of 3D printer with different parameters of the 3D printing (thickness of the drum and layer's height). The leak tightness of device's containers was tested under the air pressure. The optimum regimes for 3D printing of sealed containers for devices correspond to minimum possible thickness of sealed containers. The obtained results can be used in low cost production of chemical devices with complex body shape.

Crowdfunding for Research: A Case Study in Research Management Centre in Malaysia

This paper discusses about the implementation of academic crowdfunding in the Research Management Centre in Malaysia. In order to investigate the effectiveness of academic crowdfunding practice, the research focuses on two important issues namely as; (1) The hurdles that may challenges the crowdfunding initiative, and (2) An overview of the crowdfunding model which can be the strategy to supports the academic research funding. In this study, the researcher will conduct the case study in qualitative research method, which included the semi-structured interview to investigate the related and importance for implementation of academic crowdfunding in Research Management Centre in Malaysia. On the other hand, this paper also will propose the innovative suggestions and the best practices to enhance the effectiveness of the academic crowdfunding initiative. As a conclusion, crowdfunding might become the attractive paradigm to raise the fund for the academic research in Malaysia.

Applications of Access Control as a Service for Software Security

Cloud technology has been around for some time now and is gaining increased influence in almost every aspect of information technology services. As a consequence of above stated, cloud technology offers improvements to traditional security systems by converging logical (cloud network) and physical security (on-site devices). In this paper, we will discuss the application of Access Control as a Service (ACaaS) for software security systems. ACaaS defines a common policy format for security, the translation of the policy into deployment environments and represents an efficient, cost-effective mechanism for access control.

Reengineering the Port Equipment Maintenance Process

For the river port, the equipment maintenance is very important process because it directly influences the operational efficiency. Efficient equipment maintenance process demands accurate equipment data collection, clearly defined tasks, work order management, inventory control and reporting. This paper shows how equipment data can be collected and the analysis and reengineering of the equipment maintenance process. The result is the reengineered equipment maintenance process which is presented in the form of the process model with defined key performance indicators. This model and performance indicators can then serve as a basis for the integration of the maintenance process with other port processes and into the port management information system.
